Various Courses/ Sectors Eligible for Student Visa

Following is a list of the various divisions/ categories which have been connected to come under the Subclass 500. Scholars applying for and granted to either of the following are eligible to apply for a student visa to Australia. Vocal Education and Training Sector

Vocational Education Students registered in a Vocational Education and Training Course (VET) by an institute can apply for this visa. That essentially covers student enrolled in either of the following courses:

  • Certificate I, II, III, and IV (except ELICOS)
  • VET Diploma
  • VET Advanced Diploma
  • Vocational Graduate Diploma
Higher Education

Higher Education Sector applies to Students that are enrolled in a full-time higher education course at a University/ college or institutes in Australia. The following courses are covered under this section of visa:

  • Education at undergraduate level at a University (Bachelor Degree) Programs for a postgraduate level at a university (master’s degree like MBA, MS, etc.)
  • Post Graduate programs that offer a higher education diploma or superior diploma like PGDBM, etc.
  • Post Graduate Sector
  • This sector refers to students enrolled for Master’s degree in research Ph.D. degree

Australian Student Visa validity

As per the new guidelines, the validity of the visa would be following the duration of the course the student is registered in. Basic Eligibility Requirements for Australian Student Visa Like in any visa, there are some conditions that a student must meet to be suitable for a Student Visa for Australia. Full-Time Study

Students registered in a full-time education program are only qualified to apply for a Student Visa under Subclass 500. Part-time and distance learning programs do not suit.

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)

Getting an Australian Student Visa requires the student to be able to prove that he/she is a Genuine Shifting Entrant. Health Checkup and Insurance

You can apply for a wellness checkup before or after beginning the visa application. Still, getting it before would ensure faster processing. Aside from a wellness checkup, you also need Health Insurance. At the time of the visa request, you should have a health cover for the duration of your visa. Depending on the duration of your health cover, your visa tenure would be resolved so make sure that it covers the term of your course.

Good Character

Students are required to provide evidence of good character which certainly suggests that you do not have any illegal case against you and/ or you have never been dismissed from Australia before. Often, a simple statement of the same is accepted on the form.
